Great product for an unbeatable price, December 7, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Samsung RF510-S01 15.6-Inch HD LED Laptop (Graphite Radiant Burst) (Personal Computers) I bought this laptop a couple weeks ago and so far I'm extremely pleased with it. All the research I did before buying this thing definitely paid off, because this is one quality product. For some reason this laptop isn't sold in stores and therefore there aren't many reviews, which had me a little hesitant at first. But for the price, specs, and the few reviews I did find, I couldn't refuse. The graphite radiant burst is more of a shiny black with a purplish tint when under direct light, which actually looks a lot better than the press shots make it seem, in my opinion. The lid definitely picks up fingerprints, but it's stylish enough for me not to mind an occasional wipe-down. For casual gaming, this thing performs great. I was able to play Unreal Tournament 3 on all the highest settings with no problem. Based on another review, the 3dmark06 test (measures graphics performance) had a slightly higher score than the competition I had considered (dell xps 15, acer aspire 5740g, samsung... Read more

Good laptop for the money, November 28, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Samsung RF510-S01 15.6-Inch HD LED Laptop (Graphite Radiant Burst) (Personal Computers) I purchased this laptop several weeks ago. It runs smoothly, didn't come with a lot of garbage on it (a few games that I won't use, but not a lot of the normal 'bloat' that many computers come with), and has enough power to run most applications without really breaking a sweat. In addition to high def and streaming video playback, word processing, and picture editing, I play a number of video games both on and offline. While I normally use my desktop computer to play, I was recently traveling and used this laptop instead. It performed well. It ran each game at respectable speeds (not choppy or broken up) when I used moderate graphics settings. The machine is fairly light, the screen is clear, and it resumes from sleep mode in under 5 seconds, which is great. If I have one complaint, its that the reflective portions of the case (both on the outside around the screen) are finger print magnets. Samsung product quality control slips, December 29, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Samsung RF510-S01 15.6-Inch HD LED Laptop (Graphite Radiant Burst) (Personal Computers) I'm a fan of Samsung products. I was hoping that this machine would follow the tradition. I bought two of them in fact for family members. Unfortunately, happiness was not meant to be. The first machine's screen would flicker any time you tapped around the keyboard or shifted the laptop. Amazon was great, as usual, and took it back. However, my replacement RF-510-01 had unresolvable lock-ups with the cursor. That machine was also returned to Amazon. Battery life was poor, about 2 hours with light use. Made in China products, no matter what brand, seem to be inferior in their quality control compared to those that use to be manufactured in Japan or Korea. But there is almost no opportunity to avoid a Chinese product, especially in computers. In the end, I exchanged that dud for a RF-510-2 which has a faster i7 processor and a larger hard drive.
